Erste Ausgabe. Johann Benedict Listing (1808-1882), Mathematiker, Schüler von Gauss und Professor der Optik in Göttingen, hat die mathematische Theorie des Auges als optischer Apparat entwickelt. Auch der Ausdruck "entopische Gesichtserscheinungen" stammt von ihm. Listing hat das Auge schematisiert und berechnete für ein solches, mittleres Auge dann die Lage der Haupt- und Knotenpunkte, sowie die Hauptbrennweiten. Für die Physiologie des Sehrorgans hat Listing Bedeutendes geleistet. Listing contributed much to physiologic optics. He studied in detail the nodal points of the eye and coined the term "entopic vision". iN THE PRESENT WORK Listing analyzed mathematically the course of light rays in the eye.... cf.
